Having spent years immersed in this world, we've seen firsthand the highs and lows that come with serving others. One of the biggest challenges we noticed was the tipping culture.
It's always been a bit of a dance: customers wanting to show their appreciation but not always having the cash, and waiters often missing out on the full reward for their hard work. We’ve seen the frustration when a generous tip gets lost in the shuffle or doesn't reach the right person. And we realized it wasn't just waiters facing this issue. Hard-working people across many "shadow" tip industries, like postmen, bellboys, and hairdressers, were also missing out simply because of the shift towards a cashless society.
One afternoon, over a cup of coffee in a cafe, when Eyal was just tipping our waitress, we had a lightbulb moment (We were discussing the usual tipping woes when it hit us): what if there was a way for everyone to tip easily, even if they didn’t have cash? We all carry our smartphones everywhere we go, so why not leverage that? That’s how TippBee was born.
With TippBee, we’ve created a seamless solution for anyone to receive tips through a quick tap of the service provider’s NFC card or a scan of a QR code. It’s simple, direct, and ensures the tip goes exactly where it’s meant to—right into the hands of the person who earned it.
